Ebike People — Privacy Policy

Ebike People ("the app") is developed by an independent developer. This page explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with. There is no account or sign-in system in the app, and we do not collect your name or email address through the app itself.

Location data

Ebike People uses your device's location in a few specific ways:

• Ride tracking. While you're recording a ride, the app uses GPS to track your route so it can show your distance and elevation gain. This GPS track stays on your device the entire time — it is never sent anywhere. Only a summary of the ride (distance, elevation gain, duration, and the battery percentage you logged) is saved, and that summary is also stored only on your device, in Ride History.
• Weather lookup. Periodically during a ride, the app sends your current location to Open-Meteo, a free weather data service, to check the current temperature. This is used only to adjust the app's estimate of your bike's range in cold weather. Open-Meteo does not require an account or API key, and the app does not send any other information along with this request.
• Trail condition reports. If you choose to report a trail condition (like a downed tree or a muddy section), the app sends the exact map location you selected, along with the condition you picked from a fixed list, to our backend database. This report is shown to other people using the app so they know what to expect on the trail. Reports are not linked to your identity in any way — there are no user accounts.
• Group ride posts. If you choose to post a group ride, the app sends the exact map location and time you selected to our backend database, so other riders can see where and when to meet. Like trail condition reports, this is not linked to your identity.

What we don't collect

• No account registration, no name, no email address, no phone number
• No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs
• We do not sell or share your data with advertisers

Third-party services we use

• Open-Meteo — provides current weather/temperature data, given a location, for the cold-weather range adjustment described above.
• Supabase — hosts the database behind trail condition reports and group ride posts.
• OpenStreetMap / Overpass — provides the public map and trail data shown in the app. The app sends the map area you're currently viewing (not your personal location) to look up trails in that area.

Data retention

Your ride history is stored only on your device and is removed if you uninstall the app. Trail condition reports and group ride posts are stored on our backend since they're meant to be visible to other riders; group ride posts stop being shown once their scheduled time has passed.

Children's privacy

Ebike People is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
